Just so you know, this is in the latter years of his career. Most of his writings before weren't this unhinged, I hope. Don't let this brashness turn you away from him. I will look at how it might help our understanding of why Wolfe dissapeared, and maybe what it means as a whole. Wolfe seems to be disgusted with people, which lends creedence to him simply reclusing from society and leaving the comics world as part of that, but something doesn't add up. Wolfe seems very enthusiastic about his comics. Maybe a little bit delusional, but he doesn't seem like he wants to stop making comics, he just wants them to remain exclusive to "those with a fucking brain". This also sort of explains why he said no to the scouts from larger comic labels. In general, he seems to be frustrated with the average person, maybe he saw his own friends and family give up on everything for what seemed to be lousy reasons? The kingdom comparisons also spike some interest, if he's the king, is there a queen? Who are his knights? Can you tell I'm desperate?
